The Bible clearly teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Christ. Baptism allows a believer to communicate to the world their heart-felt commitment to Christ. People often have questions regarding baptism.  We'll try to answer a couple here.

Why should I be baptized?
  1. To follow the example of Jesus.  The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke all record Jesus being baptized by John the baptist.
  2. Because Jesus commanded it.  "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." (Matthew 28:19)
What is the meaning of baptism?
  1. It illustrates Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.
  2. It illustrates my new life as a Christian and identity in Christ.  "Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised up from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:4)
  3. Baptism does not make you a Christian.  It is only an outward sign of an inward decision and commitment.
Who should be baptized?
  1. Every person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and received His forgiveness for their sins.
When should I be baptized?
  1. As soon as possible after accepting Jesus.
The next baptism service is coming soon!  If you haven't been baptized, then be sure to sign up this Sunday. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask us.
